Voting is not just a right; it is a fundamental pillar of democracy that empowers citizens to shape their nation’s future. In India, the act of casting a vote carries immense importance, as it gives voice to the dreams, concerns, and aspirations of millions. By exercising this crucial civic duty, each citizen becomes an agent of change, working towards a better India. In an attempt to create awarenessamong students of the college regarding the importance of Voting, NSS Unit of GDC Sidhra, under the aegis of IQAC, organized an Awareness Lecture and Enrolment of New Voters. Booth Level Officers (BLO), Mr. Mohd. Gulzar, Mr Akbar Ali and Mr Jameel Ahmed, Bain Bajalta-B, Jammu East presided for the event. In their lecture, the representatives delivered an impressive lecture to students about the basic knowledge of electoral process. They elaborated on the significance of exercising ‘Right to vote’ and explained that right to vote is the infallible weapon of democracy and described that unless we choose the right representative through right to vote, one cannot build the true structure of the democracy. After their lecture, Booth Level Officers also identified students who were first time voters and filled their electoral forms. The event was organised by Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, P.O NSS Unit with cooperation of NSS members. Senior faculty member, Dr. Harpreet Kour, Dept. of Political Science, was also among those present for the event. The programme was conducted under the able guidance of the worthy Principa of the college, Dr. B. B. Anand.
