Valedictory Function Of NSS Winter Camp Organised At GDC Sidhra

Valedictory function of Weeklong NSS Winter Camp w.e.f., 4th-14th January 2025 was organised by GDC Sidhra with full zeal and zest. Prof. (Dr.) G. S Rakwal, Principal of the College was the chief guest for the occasion. The program commenced with the Indian tradition of lamp lightening followed by Saraswati Vandana performed by Kajal and Ambika. With this luminous start, the chief guest of the occasion was honored by presenting him with a live sapling as a token of gratitude. Proceeding further, a formal welcome address was delivered by Dr. Purvaiya Hans, NSS Programme Officer. In her address she gave a detailed presentation of the work carried out during this winter camp. Throughout the week several activities were organised including beautification of the campus, cleanliness drive, sports, yoga, painting competitions, extempore, community awareness rally, extension lecture, one day excursion to Surinsar and cultural programs including Lohri celebrations which left a positive impact on NSS volunteers helping them to grow as responsible citizens. During the valedictory function NSS volunteers presented colorful performances. Kajal presented a thrilling dance performance followed by poetry recitation by Iqra, Asmina and Sunil. Kajal and Ambika presented a folk dance reflecting Dogri culture which left the audience spellbound. Thereafter Muzaika sang a melodious song and Asif Yusuf briefed about aims and objectives of “NSS”. Moving further Muzaika and Asif Iqbal expressed their views on “Social Media”, making the gathering aware about its negative and positive impacts on the society. NSS volunteers from different semesters shared their experiences and gave feedback of the activities performed during the camp. Prize distribution ceremony was also conducted in which Ambika and Asif Iqbal were awarded best NSS volunteers. Certificate of appreciation and mementos were presented to the first prize winners of various competitions and to those volunteers who contributed significantly in various arenas during the camp. Certificate of participation were given to all the participants of the camp. Mr. Hilal Ahmad, Mr. Rattan Lal, Mr. Pardeep Bakshi and Mr. Fazal Hussain, members of non-teaching staff of the college were also presented with sapling pots for their immense contribution towards masking this camp a huge success. At last Worthy Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) G. S Rakwal presented his words of wisdom on the day. He appreciated the hard work of NSS volunteers during the camp and encouraged them to continue their good work with sincerity and dedication. He advised the students to render the community service and to spread the message of truth, kindness and honesty. He also applauded the relentless efforts of NSS team. The entire proceedings of the function were carried forward by Zaida Kouser and Rehan, NSS volunteers. At last Dr. Mussarat Chowdhary presented formal vote of thanks. The program was well organised by Dr. Purvaiya Hans, NSS Programme Officer along with active support of Dr. Harpreet Kour, Dr. Mussarat Chowdhary, Prof. Shonima Malhotra, Dr. Anu Sharma, Dr. Pooja Sharma, Dr. Gurjeet Singh and Mr. Deepak Kumar under the able guidance of worthy Principal Dr. G S Rakwal. All the faculty members were presented during the event.
