  2025-01-14

‘Celebrating Lohri is a wonderful way to connect with our roots, embrace our cultural diversity, and celebrate the spirit of togetherness. It’s not just a festival; it’s a celebration of community, renewal, and gratitude for the blessings of the harvest’. NSS Unit of GDC Sidhra organized Lohri celebrations in the college premises. The campus came alive with energy and excitement as students and staff gathered to celebrate Lohri, the vibrant festival that marks the end of winter and the beginning of the harvest season. The event brought together staff and students from various cultural backgrounds to participate in this joyous occasion. The celebration kicked off with a grand bonfire, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and the ushering in of new beginnings. Students and staff circled the fire, offering sesame seeds, peanuts, and roasted corns as part of the traditional Lohri rituals. These festive treats were then distributed amongst the students and faculty. The Lohri celebration served as an opportunity for students to learn about the significance of the festival, its agricultural roots, and its cultural importance in various regions of India. The event was a delightful mix of tradition, fun, and learning, creating an atmosphere of joy and inclusivity on campus, leaving everyone with cherished memories of this festival. The event was organized with the active support and coordination of Dr. Purvaiya Hans, PO, NSS Unit and other members of the unit under the able guidance of Dr. G.S. Rakwal, worthy Principal of the college. All the other staff members were also present for the occasion.
