GDC Sidhra Organised A Lecture On “Indian Constitution Provisions Safeguarding Voting Rights."

Electoral Literacy club in collaboration with Department of Political Science of GDC Sidhra organized a lecture on the theme of “Indian Constitution Provisions safeguarding Voting Rights” under the SVEEP activities in view of the General Elections to J&K Legislative assembly 2024. The event was started with the formal introduction given by Dr. Meesha Bhagat, Convener of Electoral Literacy Club about the role of SVEEP. She delivered a lecture on the Constitutional provisions which provides the framework for the free and fair election and highlighted about the Articles 324- 329 in Part XVth of the constitution. She threw light on the role of an independent Election Commission in conducting elections to Parliament and the State legislature and the elections to the offices of President and Vice President of the Country. She further detailed about the Universal Adult Franchise under Article 326 in which every person who is a citizen of India and who is 18 years of age is entitled to Vote. The programme was ended with the formal Vote of Thanks given by Dr. Deepak Kumar, PTI, wherein he encouraged students to caste their vote and became part of the democratic process. The event became successful and organized by Dr. Meesha Bhagat,Convener of Electoral Literacy Club and its members with the Coordination of Dr. Harpreet kour, HOD, Political Science and Dr. Anu Sharma,HOD, Botany, under the able guidance of worthy Principal G.S Rakwal.
