Nature Talk
2023-04-12
A true conservationist is a man who knows that the world is not given by his fathers, but borrowed from his children. With its aim is to send a high-level signal on current environmental issues such as climate protection, biodiversity, forest protection and combating environmental crime, G20, group of 19 countries and the EU, has laid significant stress on the need to safeguard the environment. It has become inherently important to work towards environmental conservation in contemporary times. The sea and the sky, the biodiversity of our flora and fauna and the vastness of nature’s creativity has ignited the imagination of many artists. Today, with nature under global threat, it is important to treasure its wonderful fragile variety. In order to contribute towards the ever-growing need to collaborate and engage in the conservation of environment, Department of English under the aegis of IQAC and the banner of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav and G20 organized a nature talk.
The two locations identified for the activity included the local Pond in Bain Bajalta as well as the lush green fields besides the college premises. The programme commenced with an address by Prof Shonima Malhotra and Prof. Rudrika Khajuria wherein they sensitized the students how man’s activities have led to the degradation of environment and the different approaches and techniques that we can adopt in our day to day lives to ensure environmental protection. In this nature talk, students of the college recited popular English poems written by poets like Wordsworth, Keats, Blake, Rabindranath Tagore and Emily Dickinson on the theme of nature while standing in the very midst of nature’s lap. The activity was aimed at raising their consciousness regarding the pertinent issue of environmental conservation.
The program was successfully conducted under the able guidance of the worthy Principal of the College, Dr. Bharat Bhushan Anand.
