Dogri Poetry Competition

In an era where the society is heading towards modernization and westernization, it is an imperative to revive local languages so as to retain their identity. In an attempt to bind the students with their regional roots, Department of Dogri, Govt. Degree College Sidhra organized a “Dogri Poetry Competition” under the aegis of IQAC and G20 and ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahostav’. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Pooja Sharma, HOD Dogri. In her address she deliberated upon the importance of Dogri language and encouraged the students to inculcate it as a part of their daily lives. Students from different semesters participated in the Competition exhibiting their passion and enthusiasm for the same. The participants were adjudged by Prof. Harpreet Kour, HOD Political Science and Dr. Satbir Kour, HOD Punjabi. The result of the programme was declared on the same day in which Shuvam Kumar of B.A. Sem-II got first position, second position was bagged by Karan Chand of B.A. Sem-II and third position was shared by Simran Koushal of B.A. Sem-II and Sonu Kumar of B.A. Sem-VI. The entire programme was conducted under the patronship of Dr. B.B. Anand, worthy Principal of the college. He congratulated the winners and the participants of the college. The competition was organized by Prof. Pooja Sharma HOD Dogri. Prof. Shonima Malhotra, Convenor ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotasv’ and G20 also contributed towards making the programme a success.
