International Yoga Day, which is celebrated on June21, recognizes the physical and spiritual benefits of yoga. Yoga asanas are an essential method of exercise and healthy activity. For the millions who practice yoga on a daily basis, these routines are a way to connect the body, mind and soul. Yoga is the ancient Indian art and science of healthy living. Practicing yogic exercises on a regular basis helps in management of stress, increasing flexibility, strengthens the body and in the long run helps in creating emotional stability, focus and positivity. NSS Unit of GDC Sidhra under the aegis of IQAC and banner of 'AKAM', Mission LiFE organized a series of activities to commemorate International Day of Yoga 2023. Theme for this year Yoga Day is ‘Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. First activity in the series was an awareness lecture on the theme: ‘Importance of yoga’on 15th June, 2023 wherein Worthy Principal of the College Dr. B B Anand deliberated on the significance of yoga which works as an elixir for an integrated growth of human personality, emphasizing how it is integral for the union of sound physical and mental health. In addition to it he also explained how by practicing yoga, one can deal with several challenges, including stress and physical ailments. Second activity in the series was making of a picture collage doing different yogasana. Third activity was an Awareness rally on Yoga held on 20th June 2023 in the vicinity of college. Fourth activity was Yoga with Family in which students practiced different yoga asanas with their family members and shared their pictures doing the same. Last activity in the series was Yoga demonstration on 21st June, 2023 in the college premises where worthy principal, faculty members and NSS Volunteers performed different yogasanas. The program was organized by Dr. Mehmood Ahmed PO NSS Unit GDC Sidhra and Prof. Deepa Kak Assistant professor Department of Education under the able guidance of worthy Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Bharat Bhushan Anand.
