A Lecture On Khadi To Pay Tributes To Father Of The Nation, Mahatma Gandhi

The initiative of organizing a lecture on Khadi has been taken in the true spirit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for Atmanirbhar Bharat and State government’s series of activities for making UT of J&K self-reliant in a move to pay tributes to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. NSS GDC Sidhra organized a lecture on Importance of Khadi. A Pledge on Promotion of Khadi was taken by the faculty and students of the college. Dr. Punam Rani, HOD History welcomed the Chief Guest of occasion, Prof. Dr. B.B. Anand, Principal GDC Sidhra. He focused on Khadi industry as the pride of local industry. Promotion of Khadi industry will amount to endorsing of an ideology of self-reliance and empowerment of every single man and woman. Speaking during the occasion, he highlighted Khadi as the symbol of self-reliance and Indian identity which played a pivotal role in India's struggle for independence. Giving significance to Khadi industry will pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi who guided India towards independence. Government should take steps for opening new outlets to sell and promote Khadi clothes and products. The programme concluded with formal vote of thanks presented by Dr. Indu Koul. The programme was successfully organized by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Mehmood Ahmed with the support of Prof. Deepa Kak, Dr. Rudrika Khajuria, Dr. Satbir Kour and members of NSS Unit.
