Celebration of Constitution Day
To commemorate the celebration of Samvidhaan Diwas (Constitution Day), NSS Unit in
collaboration with Electoral Literacy Committee of GDC Sidhra organised a pledge to mark the
occasion of the adoption of Constitution by the people to celebrate “Constitution Day” on 26
November 2024 under the campaign tagline “Hamara Samvidhaan, Hamara Swabhimaan”.
All the faculty members and the students took the pledge while remembering as the guiding
purposes and principles of the Introductory document of the Constitution, i.e, Preamble. The
programme was further followed by a Declamation Competition based on theme “How much we
know our Constitution”. Students of various semesters with full zeal and zest took part in the
declamation and apprised the audience about the intricacies of the Constitution. They highlighted
in their speech about the drafting Committee and the role of Constitution makers in making it a
world lengthiest Constitution. Students further emphasized about the significance of the
constitution Day in India, that is, the relevance of secular political values, integrity and Common
brotherhood. The whole event was adjudged by Prof. Pooja Sharma, Head Department of Dogri
and Mr. Deepak Kumar, PTI. In the Declamation Competition, the first, second and third
Position was bagged by Shajahan Ahmed of B.A Sem III. Ibrar Ahmed of B.A sem V and Ujma
khan of B.Asem III. The programme was attended by Dr. Harpreet Kour, Head Department of
Political Science and Dr. Rozy Malik of Political Science. The whole event was well coordinated
by Dr. Meesha Bhagat, Convenor Electoral Literacy Committee and Dr. Purvaiya Hans, NSS
Programme Officer along with their whole team under the able guidance of Dr G S Rakwal,
Principal of the college.
