CELEBRATION OF INDEPENDENCE DAY 2023 At GDC SIDHRA

India is celebrating 77th Independence Day to celebrate India’s freedom from British rule. This day is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm. This auspicious day was celebrated at GDC Sidhra by NSS Unit in collaboration with cultural committee of the college. Lower High School Bain Bajalta also participated in the event. Principal of the college, Dr. B.B Anand accompanied by staff, members of civil society and NSS volunteers hoisted the National Flag followed by the National Anthem. Students of the college as well as school presented impressive cultural performances. Principal of the college, Dr. B.B. Anand while speaking on the occasion extended his warm greetings on the occasion. He briefed the students about the importance of the day and also motivated them to work for betterment of the nation. He encouraged them to become good citizens and do their duties honestly. Sh. Shameer Ahmed, Sarpanch, Bain Bajalta also expressed his greetings on this day and spoke on the importance of this day. Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Shehnaz Malik also spoke on the importance of the day. As a landmark event, on the auspicious occasion of India’s 77th Independence Day GDC Sidhra also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with St. Dominic’s College, Shillong, Meghalaya. he objective of the MOU is to facilitate a comprehensive partnership for imparting knowledge amongst the students of the two colleges. Both colleges agreed to conduct various kinds of academic exchange programmes to facilitate Student exchange programmes, Exchange of research activities, consultaion and support in development of IT based infrastructure, etc. Dr. B.B. Anand, Principal GDC Sidhra along with his staff congratulated Dr. Smita Basu, Principal St. Dominic’s College, Shillong, Meghalaya for the successful signing of the MOU. The entire program was organised under the supervision of NSS programme officer, Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, Members of cultural committee, Dr. Harpreet Kour, Dr. Mussarat Chowdhary, Dr. Anu Sharma and Prof. Rudrika Khajuria. Event was organised as a part of ongoing “Meri Maati Mera Desh” Campaign.
