GDC Sidhra celebrates India’s maiden National Space Day 2024: “Touching ives while Touching the Moon: India’s Space Saga” India became the fourth country to land on the moon and the first to reach its southern polar region on August 23, 2023. To honour this landmark achievement, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced August 23 as "National Space Day". India is celebrating its maiden National Space Day [NSpD-2024] on August 23, 2024 with the theme "Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga". To celebrate India’s maiden National Space Day -2024, department of Environmental Sciences and ECO-CLUB “Srishti” of GDC Sidhra under the aegis of IQAC and able guidance of worthy Principal of the college Dr. G S Rakwal organised an Essay writing competition on the theme “Touching Lives while Touching the Moon: India's Space Saga”. A number of students of different semesters participated in the activity. The essays were judged by Dr. Harpreet Kour, Head Department of Political Science and Dr. Rudrika Khajuria, Head, Department of English of the college. First position was bagged by Priya of B.A Sem V, while Tawyeb Khan of B.A Sem III was adjudged at second position. Suhaani Aithmian and Javaid Hussain of B.A Sem III shared the third position. Principal of the college Dr. G S Rakwal congratulated the meritorious students and lauded the efforts of all the participants. He also encouraged all the students to participate in such events in future also. The programme was organised by Dr. Anshu Gupta, Convenor ECO-Club and Head Department of Environmental Sciences with the active support of Prof. Deepa Kak and Dr. Anu Sharma, members of ECO-Club of the college.
