GDC Sidhra Organizes 'Book Reading Session' On "My Experiments With Truth"

In ongoing series of events being organized to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti, Govt. Degree College Sidhra today organized a ‘Book reading session’ under the aegis of IQAC. The session was based on autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi “My Experiments with Truth". The autobiography is based on life of Gandhiji, his childhood and adult life in Rajkot and Porbandar, his experiences in South Africa and his active involvement in Indian freedom struggle. This book has been recognized as one of the most important spiritual works of the twentieth century. The Students from different semesters of the college read excerpts from the book and reflected on the various aspects of the life of Mahatma Gandhi. They stressed on the principles of his life. Various events that shaped the personality of Gandhiji were discussed. His views on non violence and truth were deliberated upon. Prof. Pooja Sharma, HOD Dogri, also spoke on the event. She spoke on the important events in the life of Gandhiji. She also explained the importance of truth and non violence in our lives. Students were very impressed and motivated by studying the autobiography. They got to know about many lesser known facts about the life of Gandhiji. The event was organized by Prof. Pooja Sharma and Prof. Shonima Malhotra, HOD Sociology with the active support and coordination of Dr. Anu Sharma, HOD Botany. The event was organized under the able guidance of Dr. B. B. Anand, Principal of the college.
