GDC Sidhra Showcased Documentary on "Global Water Shortage" Under G20 Activities Water issues are the biggest environmental challenges facing the world now. Water is a vital concern at all levels and water challenges affect human life, people’s livelihoods, global supply chains, food security, nutrition and ecosystems. It is crucial and urgent that we work towards attracting and increasing water related investment, innovation and water security. Anticipating greater existential trouble globally, governments at all levels are now trying hard to address the issue by adopting an integrated Water Resources Management System. In fact water is part of Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group under India’s G20 presidency. Realising the need to collaborate and engage in an integrated approach regarding water conservation and efficient management of water resources to achieve the overarching SDG Goals, Department of Education and Department of Sociology under the aegis of IQAC and the banner of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav showcased a documentary to the students regarding the global water shortage crisis exacerbating all across the world .The programme commenced with an address by Prof. Deepa Kak and Prof. Shonima Malhotra where they senstitized the students regarding the significance of water in our lives and how our daily activities are leading towards the depletion of this resource. They further made them realise the imperative need of mending their ways to save this resource for the present and future generations.The documentary also highlighted the heavy price of water shortage and apprised the students about the preventive measures that can be adopted by them to deal with this crisis. The programme was conducted under the patronship of worthy Principal of the college, Dr. B.B. Anand under the series of activities being conducted under G20. The programme was a joint effort of Prof. Deepa Kak, HOD Education and Prof. Shonima Malhotra, HOD Sociology.
