International Women's Day Celebrations
2023-03-08
Acknowledging the fact that women are equal stakeholders and key partners, if not more, women empowerment and gender equality has to be looked at through renewed vigour. India’s vision is well encapsulated in our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remark at the G20 Summit in Bali, “Global development is not possible without women’s participation.”India’s G20 presidency concentrates on women empowerment with three focus areas – ‘Women’s Entrepreneurship : A win-win for Equity and Economy’, ‘Partnership for promoting women’s leadership at all levels including at grassroots’ and ‘Education, the key to women’s empowerment and equal workforce participation’.
G20 Committee in collaboration with NSS Unit and Department of Punjabi under the aegis of IQAC and G20 and banner of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrated International Women’s Day. The theme of this year’s IWD is ‘DigitAll : Innovation and Technology For Gender Equality.’ The guest of honour for today’s event was Mtr. Shama Akhter, Corporator Sidhra, Jammu Municipal Corporation. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. Shonima Malhotra, Coordinator G20 Committee.
