With the objective to ensure universal enlightened participations of youth in elections, GDC Sidhra launched a campaign on “Mera Pehla Vote Desh Ke Liye” The aim is to actively engage and encourage Young voters particularly those casting their votes for the first time. Dr. Mussarat Chowdhary, Co-ordinator, for the same, apprised students regarding the Importance of elections, How to make informed choices, Understanding of the electoral process and the Pride of voting in the largest democracy in the world. To make a difference in the longer term, it is essential that young people are engaged in formal political processes and have a say in formulating today’s and tomorrow’s politics. Inclusive political participation is not only a fundamental political and democratic right but also is crucial to build stable and peaceful societies and developing policies that respond to the specific needs of younger generations. For young people to be adequately represented in political institutions, processes and decisions making and in particular in elections, they must know their rights and be given the necessary knowledge and capacity to participate in a meaningful way at all levels. Dr. Harpreet kour, Convener “SVEEP”, Dr. Mehmood Ahmed PO NSS and the team , Dr. Deepak PTI, Ms Ruchika Sudan were also present on the occasion. The entire Programme was carried out under the guidance of worthy Principal Dr. BB Anand.
