National Unity Day 2024

GDC Sidhra, under the able guidance of worthy Principal of the college Dr. G S Rakwal and the aegis of IQAC organised pledge taking ceremony to commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas also known as National Unity Day on 31 st October 2024. This day commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, also known as The Iron Man of India, the architect of national integration of Independent India. This specific day was introduced as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas by Government of India in 2014 to honour his legacy and to remind citizens of the need for unity in the face of challenges that threaten national cohesion. Every year, on October 31st, citizens, government officials, and students across India take a pledge of unity to uphold the integrity and security of the nation. Worthy Principal of the college, Dr. G S Rakwal, faculty members and students of the college took the pledge and paid tributes to our founding father’s efforts to promote the values of unity in a diverse country like India. This pledge is a reaffirmation of India’s commitment to remain united despite its diversity. After the pledge taking ceremony, worthy Principal of the college interacted with the students and made them aware about the importance of celebrating this day. In his address he told the students about the importance of unity and how unity amongst the citizens of a country can lead to its prosperity. He further motivated the students to become responsible citizens and perform their duties with utmost honesty, dedication, and commitment. The proceedings of the program were carried by Dr. Anshu Gupta, Convener IQAC and HOD Environmental Sciences with the active support and cooperation of Dr. Anu Sharma, Prof. Shonima Malhotra and members of IQAC of the college. The program was attended by Dr. Harpreet Kour, Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, Dr. Purvaiya Hans along with other faculty and staff members of the college.
