GDCSidhra Students Observe Teachers’ Day amidst Adversity
Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra, despite facing unprecedentedchallenges due to the recent floods, marked Teachers’ Day with solemnity andgratitude. Since the college premises remain submerged and unusable for any gathering,the programme was thoughtfully organized at Nescafe, Sidhra, symbolizing theresilience and determination of both students and faculty to uphold traditionseven in testing times.
This year’s observance was centered around the theme: “Teachers: OurStrength in Adversity – A Tribute by Students of GDC Sidhra on Teachers’ Day.”Reflecting the present reality of displacement and uncertainty, the studentsforegrounded their gratitude through the powerful message: “Drowned inAdversity, But Your Guidance Keeps Us Afloat.” The program began with a nukkadnatak performed by students of the college outside Nescafe Sidhra. The theme ofthe nukkad natak not only captured the current crisis but also highlighted theunwavering role of teachers in guiding students through hardship. The programmefurther included speeches and poetry recitations by students and staff of thecollege, underscoring the bond betweenteachers and learners as one of hope and resilience. Students also expressedtheir heartfelt appreciation for the tireless efforts of the worthy Principal,Prof. Seema Mir. Students highlighted that her resilience and commitment havebeen a source of strength and inspiration, motivating them to remain hopefuland dedicated even when the institution itself stands disrupted. “The studentsalso undertook a pledge to uphold the honour of their teachers and to extenddue respect to them at all times.
On the occasion, worthy Principal of the College, Prof. Seema Mir,addressed the gathering and apprised the students of the present condition ofthe institution and the challenges posed by the flood. At the same time, sheencouraged everyone to remain positive, assuring that adversity, thoughdifficult, brings opportunities for growth, solidarity, and renewal. Shepraised the enthusiasm and commitment of the students, who, despite thedisplacement and uncertainty, came forward to honour their teachers with suchdedication.
The observance concluded with a collective reaffirmation that GDCSidhra will continue to rise stronger from the crisis, with teachers andstudents standing together as pillars of strength for one another.
